Why is it layered?#
So the reader can stop as soon as the decision allows. The top layer is the decision waiting; beneath it come what changed conceptually, what did not, the evidence and its gaps, and finally the raw diff. Sometimes "no material change, no decision needed" is the whole brief. Returning is expensive even without AI: Gloria Mark told Fast Company it takes over 23 minutes on average to resume interrupted work, and context switching between agent streams multiplies that.
What is a re-entry checkpoint?#
The recorded point where the person last engaged, visible to them and correctable. The whole brief is written relative to it, so the delta spans exactly the gap between what they knew and what is true now. A checkpoint the person disputes produces a brief that explains the wrong things, confidently.
