Why does it matter more as agents do more?#
Because the understanding that used to come from doing the work stops arriving. An engineer who wrote the change knew what it touched; an engineer who reviewed an agent's change at volume knows what the brief told them. If the brief is a diff, they know almost nothing.
That gap compounds into comprehension debt, and it is what turns a human approval step into a formality. Designing for it is the second of the two levers: not removing the remaining human decisions, but making them good.
