How do zoom and layers work?#
Zoom changes the level of detail: enterprise, mission, work, evidence. Layers change the question: cost, risk, flow or people. Together they let one set of records answer a board's question about portfolio risk and an engineer's question about a failing check, without a second version of the truth. The principle is progressive disclosure, a named section of Apple's 1992 Human Interface Guidelines.
Why does the same map serve people and machines?#
Because the same records can be read two ways: as tiles a person reads, and as structured context an agent retrieves. The enterprise map is where context engineering and comprehension engineering share a source. Some call this a digital twin of the organisation. The test is whether every fact records its source and when it stopped being true. Without that, the map becomes a confident picture of an organisation that no longer exists.
