What Is an AI Model?
An AI model is a specialized digital file that has been trained on data to recognize patterns and make predictions or decisions. Businesses have vast amounts of data but struggle to extract specific, actionable insights from it or to automate complex tasks that require human-like judgment.

A model acts like a specialized expert, automatically analyzing new information to forecast sales, identify customer sentiment, or generate text, turning raw data into valuable business intelligence.
How it works#
A model is created through a process called "training." During this phase, it is shown huge amounts of example data (like past sales figures, customer reviews, or images) and learns the underlying rules and patterns within that data. The result is not a database of information, but a system of mathematical connections that represents the "knowledge" it gained.
When presented with new, unseen data, the model applies these learned rules to make a prediction or generate an output. For example, a model trained on customer support tickets can read a new ticket and predict whether the customer is happy or frustrated, based on the patterns of language it learned from thousands of past examples.
How it is different#
A model is the specific outcome of an AI training process, not the training process itself. It is fundamentally different from traditional software, which follows explicit rules written by a programmer. Instead of being told exactly what to do step-by-step, a model learns how to perform a task by finding patterns in data, allowing it to handle situations it has never seen before.
