Build at the top of the ladder. Orchestrate multiple coding agents in parallel, work spec-driven, wire up MCP, and stand up software-factory patterns where they pay off.
Set the engineering bar. Test coverage, CI/CD, observability, and the validation harness that agent output is judged against. AI amplifies the system it lands in, so the system has to be sound.
Lead the behaviour change. Teach client engineers to work AI native, train the trainers, and make the new way of working stick after you leave.
Push back on hype. Say no to the demo that won't survive production, and explain why in language a CTO and a junior dev both follow.
